Core Facts
11/11/2009
| On Friday, November 13, 2009 Tanglewood will hold the first public turning on of the lights. Members of the NC School of the Arts cast of the Nutcracker will turn on the lights at approximately 6:15 and the evening will include a performance by the Reynolds High School Chorus. The lighting will take place near the front gate and will feature Tanglewood’ newest display, the 110’ LED Christmas Tree. The tree utilizes new technology that allows the tree to go through a 20 minute show of different lighting scenarios. The bulbs on the tree have never before been used on any other Christmas displays. Unlike prior years, after the lighting, Tanglewood will open the gates to the public. Also, for opening night Tanglewood is working in conjunction with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC to hold a can food drive. Visitors who bring a can of food for Second Harvest will receive $4 off of the $14 weekend admission rate. The cost for the Festival of Lights for a family vehicle is $10 for Monday-Thursday and $14 Friday-Sunday and on holidays and “eves.” Commercial vans are $20 Monday-Thursday and $25 Friday-Sunday and on holidays and “eves.” Buses and motorcoaches are $90 every day.
