Winston-Salem, NC.  A mid-winter celebration to entice people to come downtown has been planned for Friday, February 26, 2010.  The 2nd Annual Big Winter Bash, presented by The Winston-Salem Millennium Fund, will be held in The Millennium Center at Trade and Fifth Streets, starting at 8pm.  The event is being produced by The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership.

The Big Winter Bash will feature Party On The Moon, a nationally-performing ten-piece band.   A sample of their music is available at www.partyonthemoon.com.

Advance admission tickets for the event may be purchased for $10.00 beginning immediately.  In addition, the Downtown Partnership is offering a “free ticket” promotion.  Persons interested in attending The Big Winter Bash have the option to purchase a minimum of $20.00 at any downtown establishment listed in the Downtown Shopping and Dining Guide.  They can then present their receipts at select ticket outlets, and they will receive a free ticket (with a maximum of 5 free tickets per person).  Receipts will be exchanged for free tickets at the following downtown locations:

•    Brew Nerds  – 305 W. Fourth Street
•    Kernel Kustard – 300 W. Fourth Street
•    Level 23 – 500 W. Fourth St.
•    Foothills Brewing Co. – 638 W. Fourth Street
•    Chelsee’s Coffee Shop – 533 N. Trade Street
•    Piedmont Craftsmen – 601 N. Trade Street
•    The Garage – 110 W. Seventh Street

The Downtown Partnership’s President, Jason Thiel, indicated that the party was a success last year and heard from many attendees who wanted to “have another Bash.”  This is a great entertainment option to offer newcomers to downtown, as well as for people who traditionally come downtown during the summer months for music concerts and dining.  “Throwing The Big Winter Bash is a sure-fire way to liven up the season between the holidays and springtime in our downtown, and most people are looking for a little escape from the cabin fever right now,” Thiel explained.  “We are grateful to The Millennium Fund for this terrific opportunity to bring such high-level entertainment to what will hopefully be a new audience to see all the excitement happening in downtown Winston-Salem.”   People can visit www.dwsp.org for more information.
