In what could involve into an exciting and fun fall festival for the Town of Kernersville, the Town’s Sister City Association in conjunction with the Körner’s Folly Foundation will host and celebrate our first town Oktoberfest in Kernersville on October 1st on the lawn of Körner’s Folly. The event will take place from 4 to 7pm. All proceeds of this fundraising event will go to the restoration efforts of Körner’s Folly.

“Kernersville Sister City Association is pleased to co-sponsor the first Oktoberfest to be held in our town.  Working with Körner’s Folly Foundation allows our association to promote and foster our cultural, educational, economic and social goals with our citizens in relationship to our German heritage with the Folly. Restoring the Folly will enhance the beauty of the building and encourage visitors to visit Kernersville's historical icon” stated Helen Prince, President of the Kernersville Sister City Association.

Traditional festive German music, traditional cuisine and beverages as well as a wide array and assortment of locally prepared foods will be on hand (Since beer and wine tastings will be served you must be at least 21 years old to attend.)

There are a limited number of tickets for sale at $25 each and most will be sold through Patron Sponsors.  For $150 each, these local businesses and individuals will receive 4 tickets to the event, two adult tour passes to Körner’s Folly that can be used at a future date, discount coupons from vendors and a limited edition Kernersville Oktoberfest 2011 ceramic beer stein to take away as a special souvenir.

To add to the merriment of the event at 6PM there will be a mass ‘Chicken Dance’ performed both on the Lawn of the Folly for the event participants as well as having our various local students and children dancing on South Main Street in front of the Folly which will be closed for their performance.
