2017 Camel City Elite Fields Announced
JDL Fast Track has begun finalizing the fields for the Fifth Annual Camel City Elite, to be held in Winston-Salem, NC, on Saturday, February 4, 2017. This year’s event will award over $50,000 in prizes and bonuses in seven events – men’s 60m hurdles, men’s and women’s 800m, men’s and women’s mile and men’s and women’s 3000m. Each race will award prize money of $4000 (1st), $2000 (2nd), $1000 (3rd) and $500 (4th). Additionally there are $1000 bonuses to the winner of each race if they break certain time records.

Winston-Salem Open Releases 2016 Player Field
Less than 40 days away from the start of the 2016 Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest University, the tournament announced its player field for the sixth annual WSO on Wednesday, July 13. The field, which in total will have 48 singles players, features five players scheduled to return to Winston-Salem for the fifth time and six players returning for the fourth time while nine are set to make their first appearance.

Johnson Commits to 2016 Winston-Salem Open
Steve Johnson, a three-time Winston-Salem Open participant and 2015 semifinalist, announced Tuesday, June 28, via Twitter from London, England that he will return to Winston-Salem in 2016 looking to improve on his finish in the final four last year.

BB&T Ballpark Named Best Stadium in High-A Baseball
BB&T Ballpark, the home of the Winston-Salem Dash, has been named the “Best of the Ballparks” at the Class A-Advanced level through a fan vote on Ballpark Digest. BB&T Ballpark bested LewisGale Field (Salem Red Sox) in the final round by snagging 61.8 percent of the fan vote.

Teams Announced for 2016 US Lacrosse WCLA National Championships
The University of Georgia earned the top seed in the Division I bracket of the 2016 US Lacrosse Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Associates (WCLA) National Championships, while University of Denver Club earned the No. 1 seed in the Division II bracket. The WCLA National Championships, to be played May 4-7 at the BB&T Soccer Park in Winston-Salem, N.C., showcase the nation’s premier non-varsity collegiate teams.

2016 Camel City Elite Prize Money, Sponsors and Headliner Athletes Announced
JDL Fast Track has announced the 2016 Camel City Elite races will increase its prize money from the $38,000 offered in 2015 to a guaranteed $60,000 in 2016. Additional money for rabbits' fees and facility bonuses has also been set aside. For 2016, the meet will feature a total of eight races, consisting of four race distances for each gender: 60m Hurdles, 800m, Mile, 3000m.

The Champ Will Be Back! Defending Champion Kevin Anderson First to Commit to 2016 Tournament
Kevin Anderson – champion of the 2015 Winston-Salem Open – is the first player committed to return for the 2016 tournament. Anderson is through to his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the US Open after derailing 2012 US Open champion and World No. 3 Andy Murray 7-6(5), 6-3, 6-7(2), 7-6(0) on Monday night. Anderson will compete against Stan Wawrinka in the US Open quarterfinals later today in the third match of the afternoon session on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Be Part of the Winston-Salem Open! Ball Person Tryouts July 31 and August 1
The Winston-Salem Open will hold tryouts for ball persons on Friday, July 31 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to noon. The tryouts are open to the public and will be held at the Wake Forest University Indoor Tennis Center at 100 West 32nd Street (adjacent to BB&T Field).

Work Begins on National Cycling Center
Coming on the heels of Winston-Salem being selected as the host city for the 2016 and 2017 Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road & TT National Championships and on the eve of the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic, work begins on downtown’s National Cycling Center with a ceremony on May 29. Located at 505 North Liberty Street, renovation of the 42,000 sq. ft. building will cost $6 to 8 million and is anticipated to be completed in eleven to twelve months.

Winston-Salem Open Lands Three, Including Early Commitments from Two Top 15 Players
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, David Goffin and Sam Querrey have committed to play in the 2015 Winston-Salem Open, which will be held August 22-29 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex adjacent to BB&T Field. Tsonga, Goffin and Querrey are the first players to join what is expected to be another strong field at Winston-Salem’s ATP World Tour 250 event. Tsonga will be ranked No. 14 with Goffin close behind at No. 15 when new ATP rankings are released on June 8.
